Abstract
Absolute deadband sampling is used in discrete control systems for reduction of the number of produced events. Under proper conditions, this sampling type results in limit cycles in steady state, which lead to increased number of events and deteriorate the sampling efficiency. This paper investigates the condition of emergence of limit cycles in the closed control loops with PI controllers, as well as the frequency of limit cycles.
