Abstract :
The Inter-Vehicle Communication (IVC) promises plenty of novel services in the domain of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Even though the IVC-based services have been extensively researched, their notorious absence in nowadays ITS services denotes a remarkable disconnection of both domains. In this paper we study several aspects of this gap and contribute with an integrated process to map the IVC service proposals in exploitable ITS services. In order to close this gap, our main assumption is that the IVC service proposals must be designed under the guidelines of current ITS architectures while conforming to their standards. We provide a case study with the mapping integration of our own IVC service proposal called VPAIR [1]. To be conformed into a well known ITS architecture by means of our suggested integration process. Furthermore, we provide evidence of our IVC service feasibility through exhaustive evaluations under a city-size scenario.
