Abstract
It was investigated whether and how the existence of the fixation target and saccade target influences saccadic peak velocity. In addition, the difference in peak velocity between the saccades visually triggered by a suddenly appearing target and the ones internally (volitionally) triggered was investigated. The five tasks were conducted on four young subjects. The results gave the following new findings, 1. Whether the fixation target exists or not does not influence saccadic peak velocity (saccadic dynamics). 2. Whether the saccade target exists or not influences saccadic peak velocity. 3. Under the same visual stimulus condition, whether the saccades are visually (externally) triggered or internally triggered influences the saccadic peak velocity
