Abstract
MTZ2 is the universal system for manual and automatic testing of all kinds of the protective relays in the quasistatic, dynamic and transient state conditions. The relay test system consists of IBM AT 286 (or higher) with built-in 8 channel, programmable signal generator, precision power amplifiers, I/O interface and power supply. MTZ2 uses the IBM PC, 8 channel programmable signal generator and power amplifiers to generate the quasistatic, dynamic: and transient test signals for the testing of all kinds of protections. During dynamic tests system operates with closed loop, using one of the dedicated programmes which prepares binary coded words for signal generator that operates power amplifiers. For transient test, both the closed and open loop is using, i.e. the programmable generator converts any waveforms digital signal, created from mathematical formulas or previously recorded by the modem protective relays or the fault disturbance recorders.
