Abstract :
We demonstrate the possibility to transport microwaves along a two-wire line, in which a plasma filament produced in air by intense femtosecond laser radiation acts as one of the conductors. It is shown that as a microwave signal propagates along such a line, pulses are formed in it, which have duration decreasing monotonously as the path length increases up to a length compared with the period of the microwave field. By changing the parameters of these pulses, one can determine the plasma density in the filament.
