Abstract
A fault-tolerant controller for an automatic driving system on rough road is described. The controller has a series-parallel duplex system which obviates the need for extensive hardware. The fault detection and system reconfiguration are handled by software. When the output result of each of the duplex system units differs, an output-connected module executes fault detection. Results of the actual driving test over long distances under study indicated that the controller can serve as an on-board controller for an automatic driving system on rough road
