Abstract
The observational data on hydrometeorologic stations, satellite images of low and middle resolutions, ice aircraft survey data collected over a long-term period have allowed the author to develop model of ice dynamics on the Ladoga lake for the spring period. The variety and complexity of natural processes, insufficiency of the operating information received from hydrological ground network of stations and the irregular character of the satellite information hinder forecasting of the ice situation on large lakes. In such conditions it is convenient to use a computer simulation. The offered model is a first step of an iterative process of simulation, which includes modeling and assessment of its adequate to real conditions
