Abstract
Several dual and single parameter techniques for the estimation of rainfall rate are explored. The key element in the research is the use of the NASA TRMM multi-frequency, dual polarization microwave link (LINK) system located on Wallops Island, VA. The studies have been carried out using LINK measurements of attenuation at 8.45 GHz (H and V) and 38 GHz (H), and polarization differential phase-shift at 8.45 GHz (H-V). Measurements from a ground network of rain gauges under the LINK path complement the study
