Abstract :
The authors attempt to elucidate sources of RF magnetic fields present around induction industrial heaters and their biological effects on workers dealing with such heaters. Measurements of magnetic field taken around a small induction furnace were used to develop a method for magnetic-field estimation around the crucible of a higher-power furnace. Measurements indicate that people working near the crucible will be exposed to nerve and muscle stimulation if this furnace operates at above 5 kW input power. Below this power, people will be exposed to phosphones. Therefore, precaution must be taken, such as screening to reduce the amount of magnetic field produced by this magnetic device
