Abstract
The electromagnetic coupling between an external source and a scatterer with apertures has been of great interest in reducing the radar cross section of a target and in identifying the shape of a scatterer. Several studies have been made on the analysis of plane wave scattering by an axially slotted conducting elliptic cylinder (ASEC). The aims of this paper are to investigate the scattering of a plane wave by ASEC using the point matching method (PMM). When ASEC is in a homogenous medium, we show that the order of the simultaneous equations can be reduced at least by a half under the condition of the same accuracy as compared with PMM. We present accurate numerical results for H-polarized waves and E-polarized waves
