Abstract :
This paper describes the experiment of measurement of terrain return in the vertical incidence region by 8mm, S-band radar scatterometer. Then using Rank Sum Test, this paper verifies the statistics properties of the amplitude distribution of terrain return in vertical incidence region. It concluded that the distribution is Rayleigh distribution, and it is affected by the terrain roughness and radar wavelength.
