Abstract :
In this paper, we analyze the departure process of an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) service multiplexer with different line speeds between input links and the output link in the North Carolina Information Highway (NCIH) environment. The ATM service multiplexer is modeled as a finite-buffer discrete-time single-server queueing system, the arrival process for each individual input link is assumed to be a Bernoulli process with parameter λ, and the service rate is constant since the ATM cell size is fixed at 53 bytes. The queue length distribution of the multiplexer is obtained by solving the balance equations. We analytically characterize the departure process by its moment generating function, the lag 1 autocorrelation coefficient of the interdeparture time, and the lag 1 autocorrelation coefficient of the number of departures
