Abstract :
The authors are utilizing electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy for noninvasive examination of living animals. Due to the intense interest in nitroxides as potential nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) contrast agents (and built-in ESR imaging agents) they are studying the pharmacokinetics of nitroxides directly in vivo, as a probe of redox metabolism in various tissues. The results are also promising in assessing the feasibility for ESR imaging measurements at the tissue site of interest.<>
