Abstract
Watermarking is an emerging technology that is claimed to have an important application in copyright protection. We argue that in many cases still-image watermarks cannot live up to this expectation. We show that the situation is different for video, mainly due to the sheer volume of the data. An overview is given of an important application for video watermarking, viz. DVD copy protection. Finally, we make the case that a total system solution needs more ingredients than watermarking alone
