Olfactory Display: Development and Application in Virtual Reality Therapy

The inclusion of visual and auditory senses into virtual reality is widespread, but the sense of smell has been largely ignored. Olfactory information available from the olfactory display will increase the user´s sense of presence in virtual reality, it is necessary to incorporate the sense of smell to virtual reality, especially in virtual reality therapy. This paper reviews the current research in olfactory display, and its existed application in virtual reality therapy. In addition, the potential use of olfactory display is also discussed
