Abstract
For Gilfillan, a landmark Los Angeles company, microwave engineering is a key enabler for technological and commercial success. Major Gilfillan products today include a wide variety of air traffic control (ATC) and air defense systems. This paper highlights Gilfillan contributions to the microwave state-of-the-art and radar leadership. Gilfillan´s microwave-based products began in ATC with the world´s first Ground Controlled Approach (GCA) Radar and branched into air defense and battlefield surveillance with innovative planar array antennas. Today, Gilfillan´s focus is on active array technology and systems. The GCA-2000 is the world´s first active array ATC radar. The Gilfillan tradition exemplifies excellence. This trend continues by using microwave engineering to develop innovative and profitable products solving domestic and international customer needs.
