Abstract :
A simulation-based system design is studied of the parallel hydraulic hybrid bus (PHHB) in this paper for optimizing the bus integrated performance. The typical urban bus cycle data (TUBC) in China has been analyzed from which the dynamic performances have been extracted to be composed of design objectives. The dynamic performances, the fuel economy and the reconfiguration cost from the traditional driveline to the PHHB driveline are together to be the design objectives. This paper proposes the design strategies on how to give a level of the tradeoffs among the design objectives. Depending upon the working characterization of PHHB, the added hydraulic power doesnpsilat have to satisfy the dynamic performances required by the entire driving cycle. Componentspsila sizing shouldnpsilat be increased only in order to obtain the maximum fuel economy, which leads to the increase of the cost. As a result, tradeoffs among the objectives are given under the TUBC in China.
