Abstract :
The 4-b microprocessor control signal and 8-b instrumentation data transmission systems realized by using opticaaibers are described. In each optical fiber transmission system, multiple frequency signals are used as parallel data which are generated by a set of sine-wave generators and detected by a set of bandpass filters. The 8-b multiple frequency signals used as 8-b parallel data are transmitted through an optical fiber in which 4-b multiple frequency signals are used as the select signals to specify four different terminals and the other 4-b multiple frequency signals are used as the control signals to specify the working states of the actuators installed in respective control terminals. The working states of the actuators are sensed by a set of position sensors and controlled by the Z80 data processor in accordance with the input control signals. Such multiple frequency signals can be used not only as the microprocessor control signals, but also as the handshake and management signals for the GPIB (General Purpose Instrument Bus) transmitted over a long distance
