Abstract :
The authors propose a parameter estimation method using a block pulse function which approximates a function as a linear combination of sets of orthogonal basis functions. The validity of the proposed method is shown both by a computer simulation which takes quantization effects into consideration and by an experiment. The system parameters are estimated from the waveforms of current and speed which change from their steady-state value to zero. As an example of parameter variation, experimental results on the change of armature inductance are demonstrated. These results show that the proposed method is able to estimate the parameters simply and successfully
