Abstract :
An efficient method for transportation network planning is proposed, which combines rule bases and optimization algorithms. The knowledge-based subsystem describes the problem constraints and selects feasible solution candidates. Such a space of feasible solutions is searched by the optimization algorithm. Through an application to a real-world problem, the authors show that the proposed method makes it possible to get near-optimal solutions for practical large-scale problems in a short time
