Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to investigate the changes of homeostatic activation in patients after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and its relationship with the Kozak sequence -5T/5C gene polymorphism of platelet membrane glycoprotein I ba(GP I ba). Blood samples from 86 patients with coronary heart disease undergoing in-stent implantation were collected. The change of platelet function before and after PCI was observed. The Kozak sequence gene polymorphism of GP Iba of all 86 patients was also determined by PCR-RFLP. The patients with 5C/5C genotype, The plasma levels of GMP-140 were significantly increased 24h after PCI compared with that prior to PCI (P<; 0.01) and those in patients with 5T/5C and 5T/5T genotype (P<; 0.01). We concluded that after PCI, there is more dramatic homeostatic activation in patients with 5C/5C genotype than that in patients with 5T/5C and 5T/5T genotype. This suggests that the patients with 5C/5C genotype may be a risky group of potential acute and subacute coronary thrombosis after PCI.
