Abstract :
This paper proposes a post-FFT frequency synchronization algorithm for IEEE 802.11n based MIMO OFDM (multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) wireless LAN systems. The proposed synchronization algorithm uses preamble for rapid synchronization, and is thus suitable for burst mode transmission. The proposed method exploits receive diversity, which significantly improves the accuracy of the frequency offset estimation. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm operates close to Cramer-Rao lower bound at high SNR, and is robust against multipath fading channels.
