Proposed modifications to TCP congestion control for high bandwidth and local area networks

The aim of the paper is to outline various modifications to TCP congestion control mechanisms which enable the more efficient use of available bandwidth on a link. Simulation experiments are performed using the REAL (packet) network simulation package (Keshav, 1988). The authors examine and discuss the outcome of these experiments and relate them to other work in this area
