Abstract
For the analysis of causal interactions between heart rate (HR) and arterial pressure (AP) variability signals, classic causality tests are applied. A linear parametric model with a double-loop structure is used to describe the feedback effect of AP on HR and of AP on itself and also with respiration as an exogenous signal. The parameters of the model are identified from real HR, AR, and respiration data, and different mechanisms in the generation of variability spectral components are detected.<>
