Abstract :
A UWB vehicular radar has been studied and developed to achieve a safe driving and to promote business in an intelligent transport system. In the paper, pulse design methods for ultra-wideband (UWB) vehicular radar are presented. One method is based on prolate spheroidal wave function; the other is the modified method which can obtain the pulse by adjusting the parameters (fL, fH). Simulation results show that both the two methods can generate pulse shapes which comply with FCC regulation. Meanwhile by selecting appropriate (fL, fH), the latter method has higher spectral utilization ratio than the former.
