Abstract :
The authors report a hybrid technique for detecting deterministic signal. This technique uses the second order matched filter output and the third order correlation zero-lag matched filter output. The motivation for using the match filter is that it is the filter that maximises the output signal-to-noise ratio with minimises the probability of error under deterministic signal and white Gaussian noise conditions. In addition the third order correlation zero-lag matched filter output is shift invariant, coupled with the ability that higher order statistic is able to suppress noise under certain conditions. The technique is tested under normal, shifted, and multipath condition and shown to be better than the single channel alone at the same level of false alarm rate
