Abstract :
The paper estimates the capacity of SSMA communications. A DS/SSMA transmission model is analyzed to obtain the output signal to noise ratio (SNR) of a receiver, the result is modified to count in the interference from adjacent cells. Using a multiple cell pattern and the propagation in micro cells, the average SNR at a mobile unit is obtained also. The two results show a close approximation for the capacity of a cell. The voice activity factor, cell sectorization, and FEC are considered in SSMA. The values show that the cellular SSMA system can provide greater capacity than traditional FDMA or TDMA systems
