Abstract :
A simple wavelength converter is presented using a Fabry-Perot laser diode which employs a built-in external cavity and oscillates in single longitudinal mode. Self locking state of the FP-LD is modulated by an injected pump beam. No additional probe beam is required in the proposed wavelength converter.
