Abstract
We propose a new method for calculating the reflection from multilayer cylinders, which is useful in analyzing structures that are not a full cylinder, such as curved radomes. By using the black-hole approach the fields inside the innermost region of the structure are expressed in terms of only inward propagating waves, which corresponds to having an ideal termination (black hole) on axis. The calculated reflection from a dielectric cylinder and a dielectric tube show good agreement with the results obtained by using geometric optics.
