Abstract :
This paper shows the results from a study on data transmission with different characterization (best-effort, high-priority best-effort and two types of real time traffic) through the switching protocol for multi-protocol labels in IP networks, compared to the IP data transmission using the asynchronous transfer mode. This study illustrates the best performance the MPLS shows under a network congestion. The NS_2 discrete event simulator was used as experimentation tool.
