Abstract
This report provides an overview of the past and present developments in power converter technology used on the CLRC Daresbury Laboratory Synchrotron Radiation Source (SRS). These converters have ratings which range from hundreds of watts to 750 kW and supply both conventional inductive loads and superconducting magnets. The paper summaries the impact of advances in semiconductor component specification on the design and operation of these power converters and indicates the recent developments which have occurred
