Abstract :
This paper describes an approach to realize precision torque and position control for Switched Reluctance Motors (SRMs). SRMs have the potential to achieve higher performance, with regard to the high torque and rapid response. However, the magnetic nonlinearity of SRMs makes the torque and current control complex and unstable. A proposed control method has a torque controller which considers the magnetic nonlinearity and the manufacturing flaw. In the torque controller, the reference current is calculated using the look-up tables tabulated by measured torque characteristics considering advance angle. The experimental results show that the proposed method has the precision torque and position control capability at arbitrary rotor position.
