Abstract
In recent decades, Geographic Information System (GIS) has developed rapidly and has been integrated into all walks of our life. With the changes of people´s needs, only some old GIS software could not meet the needs of the market[1]. To meet the growing needs, the GIS secondary development came into being. A large number of experts and scholars began to study it by using computer technology. Many kinds of GIS secondary developed software have emerged in an endless stream. Most of them used component development techniques for efficient seamless system integration and plug-in development techniques for improving maintainability of code. But these two developed mechanisms have some problems[2-6]. This paper introduces the design and the implementation of a Soil Potentialities Assessment System that is compatible with GIS, which uses the Managed Extensibility Framework (MEF) library to solve some of the shortcomings of the old GIS software development methods and to build up an extensible structure to adapt to the changes of system requirements.
