Abstract :
Austin Energy (AE) has initiated and implemented several comprehensive programs to address power quality and reliability improvements to its customers. These programs are unique not only to Austin Energy, but also in the electric utility industry. Deployment of such programs became necessary for Austin Energy due to the increased number of high-tech industrial manufacturing facilities in the Austin metropolitan area. Some of the programs that have been implemented in both of AE´s transmission and distribution systems are presented in this paper. By providing the above programs, Austin Energy has improved the quality of power provided to its industrial, commercial and residential customers. Moreover, such programs have given Austin Energy an opportunity to develop a partnership with its customers, have an open communication and dialog with them, and accept its customer problems as its own. The programs´ success are regularly measured and evaluated by Austin Energy through regular meetings with its customers. The programs are improved and revised continuously as the result of the customer´s communications and feedback, and Austin Energy´s commitment to provide quality power to its customers.
