Abstract :
Distribution system monitoring can help document system performance in a variety of ways. Voltage regulation, harmonic distortion levels, fault characteristics, voltage sag performance, and transient voltages are all important considerations that can be important to customers on the system. This paper focuses on fault performance of distribution systems because this determines the performance in terms of interruptions and voltage sags that are the most important disturbances affecting customers. The CP&L monitoring system used to track the system performance is described.
