Abstract :
We describe a basic mathematical model for the problem of ready-mixed concrete delivery and provide a solution process for it based on Variable Neighborhood Search (VNS). We used the model to analyze the potential increase in efficiency when changing the planning process of a concrete manufacturer from individually scheduled concrete plants to a global scheduling view. Finally, enhancements to the model are presented that will allow it to be used in a dynamic environment for a commercial dispatching support tool.
