Abstract :
Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is an anterior horn cell disease characterized by muscle wasting, weakness and fatigue. A test frame has been designed to assess muscle strength and endurance in SMA quantitatively with the following features: (1) Patients of all ages and strength can be tested at specific positions for several upper and lower extremity joints using isometric contraction in the plane of gravity, (2) Data collection is automatic with little user/computer input.<>
