Abstract
A description is given of a 3D echocardiographic system for cardiac volumetry that is under development. This system consists of a concave linear array rotating around its curvature axis, which will give several sector images from each rotation. After a brief explanation of the acoustical idea, the results of the first array prototype are presented. In addition, the flexible manufacturing technology is explained. Promising results have been obtained so far with respect to lateral and axial resolutions, high sensitivity and low cross talk are also indicated
