Abstract
A capacitor discharge impulse magnetizer is used to produce a high current impulse of short duration in a magnetizing fixture for magnets of the various shapes. This paper describes the development of a circuit model, thermal model and cost model for a capacitor discharge impulse magnetizer and compares simulations to measurements from an actual system. Especially, the temperature computation of discharging circuits of an impulse magnetizer is very important since it gives some indication of the design of the magnetizing circuits. Also, the authors used a cost structure consisted of five major subsystems for cost modeling
