Abstract
Although circuit models of induction machines are simple and can be solved quickly, the changes of the lumped parameters in the circuit model during dynamic processes are difficult to be estimated. In this paper, the circuit-field coupled mathematical models of induction machines are scrutinized and their implicit hypotheses, limitations and the appropriate applications of such models are highlighted
