Abstract :
Summary form only given. We demonstrate the measurement of acoustic mode spectrum using phase-modulation RF-spectroscopy and report, for the first time, the acoustic mode spectrum of dispersion shifted fiber (DSF). This technique provides high sensitivity via the heterodyne effect. We also report the first experimental observation of the third higher-order acoustic mode of the optical fiber.
