Abstract
We consider a coded cooperative relaying scheme in which two sources communicate with a destination with the assistance of a relay when necessary for improved bandwidth efficiency, reduced energy consumption and enhanced system performance. Based on the decoding status of source signals, the destination decides whether to ask the relay for help. Also, the relay can refuse the destination ´s request if it incorrectly decodes the source signals. Closed-form expressions for its bandwidth efficiency, total energy consumption, and outage probability are derived. Numerical results show the superiority of the proposed scheme to reference one for any SNR.
