Abstract :
This paper has proposed that a tapered microstrip line is successfully employed for three-coupled λ/4 microstrip-line bandpass filters with tapped-line input/output. The tapped-line coupling strongly affects only one of three resonant modes, so that the bandpass property is not well constructed by using three resonant modes. Then we show that the taper effect of center-strip width works effectively to form the desired passband. As an example, we design the bandpass filter with 0.1dB Chebyshev ripple from accurate analysis based on the finite element method, and its usefulness has been verified numerically.
