Abstract :
Summary form only given. Simple methods for quantitatively estimating the relationships between power supply reliability and performance, safety, and cost have been examined. The ASP Program at Los Alamos has had the mandate of helping to maintain the professional skill and technological currency of their scientific engineering staff throughout their careers. High among the priorities are ensuring skills in probabilistic reliability analysis, statistical quality control, and analytic systems decision-making. These concepts are developed primarily by showing how to usefully apply them in the area of general power supply design.<>
