Abstract :
4D CAD system is a simulation tool for visualizing the finished appearance of construction facility by construction schedule. That is, project manager can continuously simulate the changed appearance of the facility with 3D type by each construction time schedule. Recently, the application of 4D CAD system is being increased by linking with VC (virtual construction) functions. Virtual construction methodology enables to construct project facility from design phase to construction phase in 3D virtual environment. It is a technique that can solve problems of construction in virtual construction process before real construction. This study suggests some methodologies for using virtual construction technology in the design phase of construction project. And the methodologies are verified by a developed virtual construction system linked with 4D CAD tool.
