Abstract
The AMOVIP project is a joint initiative for a cooperation in specific aspects of vision research and their applications, involving EU partners in Spain and Portugal together with developing countries Mexico and Brazil in Latin America. Models of visual perception concern primarily the local brightness as perceived at different spatial luminance patterns. The main aim of this project is to develop a 2D brightness model that is able to predict most if not all known brightness effects, such as illusions, and to apply this in practical applications for improving medical diagnosis, feature detection in remote sensing, as well as image coding
