Abstract
Based on a special approach for ultrasonic breast imaging (CARI: clinical amplitude/velocity reconstructive imaging) a modified time-of-flight tomographic imaging algorithm is introduced. Problems of limited angle and signal-to-noise ratio are discussed. Despite fundamental limits phantom experiments show promising results. Compared to CARI the authors´ algorithm leads to an improved lateral resolution and also an axial resolution was obtained, which is missing in CARI images
