Abstract
The effects of a mechanical cardiac assist device on the pressure-length loop of the left ventricle at the ischemic border zone were studied in six dogs following acute coronary occlusion. This device improved hemodynamic performance of the impaired heart by increasing myocardial contractility and decreasing ventricular preload. The experimental methods and results are presented
