Abstract :
This work presents a semi-analytic method for the performance evaluation of OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) systems thereby avoiding use of intensive simulation runs. Precisely, we evaluate analytically the distortion power on each subchannel for any choice of the system´s parameters (namely the number of virtual carriers, the length of the cyclic prefix, the shape of the channel, the transmit and the receive filter impulse response), So doing we are able to make a correct selection of the above parameters to get the desired performance in terms of error rate. An example of application to the transmission of HIPERLAN packets in very dispersive fading channels is also given,
