On Measuring Non-Life Insurance Output in China Using the Expectation Approach

With the fantastic development of insurance, insurance accounting has become more important and requests to be improved and perfected continuously. In China the current method to measure non-life insurance output leads to an absurd result because the output of non-life insurance is negative in 2006. This paper reviews the expectation approach and the accounting approach, which were used to improve the estimation methods of insurance output in the System of National Accounts (93SNA), and uses the annual data of Guangdong province in China to estimate the output of non-life insurance. At last, this paper proposes some suggestion on insurance accounting in China.
